2012 Doomsday Theory?

Question

What do you think about the 2012 doomsday theory? I am trying to do some research on it so I can determine what I really think about it, but I haven't really decided. Can anybody give me some information about it and tell me what they believe?

2012 is the end of the Mayan calendar.  The Mayan calendar is considered one of the most advanced.  This calendar has predicted every eclipse, every comet, and every great astronomical event for the past thousands of years but in 2012 it just ends abruptly.

In my opinion I trust the Mayans.  So live the next four years greatly because they will be our last.

i dont think it's the countdown to 'doomsday'  i think it's the end of a 'cycle', like the calendar actual says

one thing that makes me think the calendar might be legit is that it says, i believe, that the cycle we are currently in started about 30,000 BCE

which is when the first true civilizations started up, in Egypt in Mesopetamia

that just makes me wonder

you know dec 21 2012 is on a friday.....we dont even get to enjoy the d**n weekend before we die.  i know one thing thou end of the world or not im NOT going to work that week

I think it's when an ancient calendar ends. That's what I think it is.

Part of me belives and part of me dosn't but most of me dosn't belive that that will be the end of the world.

Do not worry.  Do not be scared.  I assure you that the world will not end on 2012 December 21 but it will end one day.  Remember that if there is a beginning, there is an end.  

Nostradamus’ prediction of when the earth will end is far into the future, past about 3700.  He still has many prophecies that are not fulfilled yet.  This is in agreement with what I heard and learned from the Holy Spirit—that there will only be about 144,000 around AD 2200, peace reigns for a thousand years till around AD 3200, and the release of Satan to test the descendants of the elect for about 500 years, and then the end will come.

The Mayan’s Mesoamerican Long Count calendar forms the basis for a New Age belief, first forecast by Jose Arguelles, that a cataclysm will take place on or about 2012 December 21 (Wikipedia).  It will be the end of the Mayan calendar’ 13th Baktun cycle (13.0.0.0.0) to start a new cycle.  

In the book of Revelation, it tells us about a period of a thousand years of peace. Has this occurred already since the time of Jesus? Not yet. That will still come. Those that give predictions of the world’s end, such as 2012 and numerous times during the past, are pseudo-preachers. Have they talked to God directly? If so, give proofs.

But there is something that is certain—and that is our physical death. This is what we should prepare for. It may come when least expected. We do not know the day and the hour. It will come like a thief in the night. So we just have to be prepared all the time. Search for the true God and when we find Him, follow His commandments and remain in Him until our last dying breath.

This is all that we have to do. It is faith in the true God that we can take with us when we depart from this world. If we denied Him, He will deny us also before the Father in Heaven and send us to h**l. This is very scary – to live in h**l forever.  If we knew Him and loved Him and followed His commandments, then He may reward us to live with Him eternally in His kingdom in Heaven. This is the survival kit that we should have.

Did you know that in his or her boredom, “Thanks for reading this” theorized in Yahoo Answers, Religion & Spirituality section, that 2012 is 20 + 12 = 32, the approximate age of Jesus when He was crucified and died?  I answered that when Jesus died, He was really 32 solar years old, equivalent to 33 lunar years.  Details are in http://www.geocities.com/peacecrusader88...  I believe that this is one sign that God is warning us of the impending catastrophe around 2012, like the end of the Mayan’s calendar cycle.  But I repeat, it is not the end of the world yet.

What is also certain to happen very soon (in about 2012 or earlier) is World War III and this is a nuclear war.  This “calamitous war” (as Nostradamus called it) will start from the Philippines, at Spratly Islands in particular.  The Spratly Islands lie on the southeast part of the South China Sea mostly near the coast of the Philippines.  The Holy Spirit told us that the Philippines is the wick of a gas lamp.  Once the wick is lit, it will be on and aglow.  He told us about this prophecy about two decades ago.  He said that the troubles in the Philippines will spread to the whole world until mankind is almost annihilated and a few will remain.  Spratly Islands is being claimed wholly by China, Taiwan and Vietnam; and partly by Malaysia, Brunei and the Philippines,  It is considered a tinderbox, a flash point.  It is very rich in oil and gas resources, more than the reserve of Kuwait.  The high price of oil may trigger the grabbing of these islands and start the war.

After the calamitous war, then we will have a new age, a spiritual awakening, an enlightenment, and peace for a long time.  The population would have been reduced by a third and there will be much arable land that will be available.  People will be living in planned cities and communities.

Isaiah 35:4 (KJV) states: “Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompense; he will come and save you.”

I think its c**p.If your a christian and read the bible then you should read the book of revelation which has passages on the end of time. Jesus told his deciples that we will not know the day or the hour of his return (rapture). Honestly I don't know. No body knows.

I think it's a load of c**p!  Nobody knows when doomsday is and why would you want to know anyway?  It's not like we can prevent it.  Would you want to know when you are going to die???

The 2012 date is associated with the age of Aquarius,Mayan cycle(5125yr),a completion of the pression of the equinox,all three of these astrological cycle end in 2012,the prophecies of nostradamus( lost book) and the american indians(hopi) tend to have an either/or trend to them.

One theory is that because of the alighment between the sun earth and the galactic centre( a big black hole),this throws up a number of different scinarios;a change in the magnetic poles,the sun or earth get sucked into galactic centreNobody really knows what is going to happen these are speclative possibilitys.scary though!!Another is to do with PlanetX and WW3 is another.

Of all the examples i give the only one we could possibly prevent is WW3 However this would require a major shitf in the collective conscious. and big changes in the social conscious on a community/national level.

I am no expert but, it seems that the origin of the doomsday 2012 theory is the fact that the mayan calender ends at 2012.

Now it does not actually end, it simply is the end of the calender for the age we are in.  Other supposed prophecies have been made about 2012 but the way to look at it is this - the world is changing in many ways, people are changing, and no one truly knows what the future holds.  Even if you were psychic, the future can change.  It makes for some interesting reading though.  To understand all the fuss, look up the date 12/21/2012 on google.  A lot of people seem to believe it, I think we will never know until it is too late but my stance is to always be prepared, have a BOB and plan for the worst.  It is more than likely just another Y2K.

Well several ancient civilizations have come up with this year for doomsday (creepy) and some people also think barak obama is the antichrist (his term would end in 2012) also creepy, i just also want to hear what others would like to say.
