2012 Dutch Open: Lisa Kaminski overpowers Mireille Van Daal in Women’s Singles qualifying round
Germany’s spirited female shuttler Lisa Kaminski had a perfect start in Yonex Dutch Open as she outshined Mireille Van Daal in the qualifying round on October 9, 2012.
This Women’s Singles encounter kept both contenders head-to-head for 39 minutes before ending with final result of 13-21, 21-19 and 21-19.
The local badminton arena of Almere, Netherlands was filled to its brim as a huge crowd assembled to encourage the native shuttler.
However, the Dutch campaigner disappointed them by putting a below par performance in ending two games.
In the opening set, Mireille relished full benefits of home ground and bagged first match point with a huge difference.
She laid foundation of her supremacy straight away in the beginning and did not lose focus at any stage of the game.
On the other hand, Lisa looked confused as she dropped many valuable points in a row and allowed the opposing shuttler to gain an early advantage with 6-2 score.
Mireille made best out of this situation and raised her lead with a respectable margin of 11-5.
She did not make even a single mistake after the mid-game break and kept her rival at the lower end until a favourable figure of 21-13.
The second set started with couple of gruelling rallies as both players put all they got to achieve their respective goals.
At one stage, the Dutch shuttler was in strong position to transform her 1-0 lead into a straight-set victory but then Lisa came in her way.
The German campaigner showed strong character even after going down in the opening rallies and pocketed six consecutive points after a 4-7 total.
Lisa kept the bird under control and cornered her challenger with a series of masterly crafted strokes. She got into commanding position with 17-13 and then swept the table with a significant margin of 21-19.
Third set, as expected, proved the best segment of this match as both contenders challenged each other in all areas of the game.
They made every effort to avoid an early exit from the event but then Lisa tipped the scale in her favour with an overwhelming knock of 21-19.
