2012 Flypower Bali Open: Arinda Sari Sinaga reserves a spot in pre quarter-final round
Women’s Singles shuttler Arinda Sari Sinaga had a perfect start in Djarum Sirnas Flypower Bali Open as she cleared first hurdle and powered her way to the pre quarter-finals on November 5, 2012.
She unseated Afni Fadillah with a favourable result of 21-17, 15-21 and 21-10 in the 55-minute encounter.
Arinda, who holds fourth position in the tournament ranking, prevailed in the opening and ending games whereas the opposing shuttler could rise only in middle of the battle.
Arinda played with an authoritative approach from very first stroke and maintained this tempo all the way to final moments.
In the opening game, she launched a brisk attack and pushed her rival on the back-foot with couple of consecutive points.
She did not drop her pace and piled up an indomitable total of 11 in no time. This initial lead helped her also in later part of the game.
Afni had no reply to such an intensive attack as she remained at the lower end until last shot was played.
The inexperienced Indonesian shuttler failed to lift the burden of expectations and surrendered after reading 17-21 score on the board.
However, she did not kneel down tamely as the following game saw her in a transformed character.
This time Afni played with right attitude and fortitude to avoid a straight-set defeat and her honest effort yielded impressive result.
She set the foundation of her dominance by prevailing in the establishing rallies and doubled the impact by adding few uninterrupted points in her total just before half time.
After the mid-game break, Afni played with even more precision and cornered her challenger in all departments of the game. She registered an overwhelming margin of 21-15 and brought the contest to right balance.
Third set became crucial after this revised match score position and both contenders strived hard to pocket this final match point.
However, the decider proved a one sided affair in the second half as Arinda swept the table with a significant difference of eleven points.
She placed a winning figure of 21-10 and secured a berth in the pre quarter-finals where she will be meeting Shinta Dewayani.
