2012 Flypower Bali Open: Intan Dwi Jayanti gains access to Women’s Singles quarter-finals
Indonesia’s budding shuttler Intan Dwi Jayanti registered her presence in the Djarum Sirnas Flypower Bali Open as she powered her way to the quarter-finals on November 6, 2012.
She outshined the compatriot campaigner Lana Adriana Sarah with a favourable result of 21-16 and 21-16.
This Women’s Singles encounter was staged at local badminton arena of Denpasar, Indonesia and both contenders challenged each other throughout this 35-minute meeting.
Intan Dwi, who holds second spot in the tournament ranking, proved herself superior in all areas of the game and wrapped this showdown in just two games.
Meanwhile, Lana Adriana also showed decent fighting skills and her honest effort was applauded by the audience.
In the opening game, she alarmed her higher ranked rival by prevailing in the establishing rallies and then mounted the pressure by gathering some valuable points without any interruption.
It was felt that Lana will deliver a stunner in this pre quarter-final match but she disappointed her supporters by putting a fluctuated performance in later part of the game.
Intan Dwi did not squander this opportunity and counter-balanced the situation with a strong reply. She unleashed a flurry of well placed strokes which ultimately fetched couple of consecutive points.
She maintained this rhythm in the final stage and left her challenger far behind with a significant lead in the concluding margin.
Intan Dwi pocketed this opening match point by registering 21-16 score on the board.
The second set was also played in similar manner as at first Lana Adriana got into commanding position but then the opposing shuttler showed a transformed character and turned the tables.
Initially, Lana did not show any sign of bewilderment after first set loss and gained an early advantage.
She played with great conviction and established a decent lead before the announcement of mid-game break.
However, she lacked good finishing skills which allowed the other Indonesian player to come out of her influence.
Intan made the best out of her competitor’s blunders and locked the honour with a staggering knock of 21-16.
This win took her into the quarter-finals where she is scheduled to meet Sheren Regina Natsir.
