2012 Korea Open: Tzu Wei Wang tames Ji Hoon Jin to surge into second round of Men’s Singles event
Men’s Singles shuttler Tzu Wei Wang had a great start of Korea Grand Prix Gold as he cleared the opening round by thrashing Ji Hoon Jin on Tuesday, December 4, 2012.
The Taipei campaigner, who is an unseeded player in this tournament, has alarmed all the contestants by sealing a straight-set victory in just 30 minutes.
This match was played at the local badminton complex of Hwasun- gun, Korea as a decent number of spectators gathered to support the native shuttler.
However, Ji Hoon failed to live up to the expectations and crashed out of home event in a disgraceful manner.
The Korean player could not pocket even a single match point and faced a woeful defeat with 15-21 and 11-21 result.
In the opening game of match, Ji Hoon looked confused from the very first stroke as he dropped many valuable points and allowed his challenger to gain an early advantage.
Tzu Wei did not squander this opportunity and established a comfortable lead by prevailing in a couple of consecutive rallies.
He finished the first half of the set with an indomitable total of 11 and then doubled his lead without wasting any time in the ending part of the game.
Though, Ji Hoon made every effort to end his rival’s dominance but he failed to tip the scale in his favour.
The six-point deficit proved a final blow for the Korean shuttler and he surrendered after reading 15-21 score on the board.
Tzu Wei relished full benefits of this psychological edge in the following game and swept the table with a huge difference in the final margin.
He started the beating from the beginning and kept his competitor at the lower end all the way to game point situation.
In the first half of the set, he pushed his opponent in all areas of the court and pocketed many vital points.
The Taipei campaigner played with great control and piled up a mountainous figure of 11 before the interval.
He remained ten steps ahead of Ji Hoon on the points table and sealed his victory with 21-11 score.
Now he is all set to take on Riyanto Subagja of Indonesia and a win will pave his way to the pre quarter-final round.
