2012 LPGA Tour: Jennifer Johnson on the move
American Jennifer Johnson was one of the few lesser-known players at the Navistar LPGA Classic, who did well despite playing in a field tougher than they had anticipated — but the upcoming
Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012 will require her to come up with a more solid plan.
Having posted an overall 276 at the Navistar LPGA Classic 2012 — one of the prestigious Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tournaments — Johnson was seen cheering the spectators at
Prattville, Alabama, throughout the four days.
Although the American star lacked as stunning a profile as some of the other players in the roster, her better-than-average performance helped her overcome nerves —something she desperately
needs in order to prove her worth on the LPGA Tour.
The year 2012 has seen Johnson display a mercurial performance, having done well in some events.
Navistar LPGA Classic 2012 is not the only tournament in the 2012 LPGA season that has gone well, but the LPGA star played a much better game in the Kraft Nabisco Championship 2012 and Kia
Classic 2012.
At the Kia Classic, the American golfer finished tie for the 25th position on the leaderboard, winning $15,141. She had got off to a flying start at the event that featured stars
like current world number one Yani Tseng, Stacy Lewis and Suzann Pettersen of Norway.
A four-under 68 in the first round was enough to help her rise to a good position on the leaderboard. “This is just a really fun round today. Six birdies, two bogeys, and I was just really
motivated after a tough week last week, and having all my friends and family out here supporting me made for a really good day,” Johnson had said at the end of the first round of Kia Classic 2012.
She said that she had been working hard on every aspect of her game and had managed to fix some fatal flaws in her putting and swing.
“I would say you definitely have some expectations for yourself. But the greens are a little bumpy, and I think that's where I have the advantage, just knowing sometimes they don't break.
Sometimes they bump in or bump out, and definitely the ball had a little base, so that helped too,” Johnson had said.
