2012 Macau Open: Shin Baek Choel, Yoo Yeon Seong gain access to pre quarter-final round
Korea’s Shin Baek Choel-Yoo Yeon Seong performed according to the expectations and powered their way to the pre quarter-finals of Kumpoo Macau Open Badminton Grand Prix Gold on November 28, 2012.
They stamped Men's Doubles duo En Huang Chu-Lin Chia Yu of Chinese Taipei by piling up a favourable margin of 21-12 and 21-11.
The twosome of Baek Choel and Yeon Seong laid the foundation of its supremacy by clinching first match point and then served notice of their dominance by transforming this initial lead into a straight-set victory.
Both partners had a sluggish start as they dropped many valuable points in the establishing rallies but then a few back-to-back productive strokes provided them the required momentum.
Though, Huang Chu and Chia Yu enjoyed the upper hand until 5-2 but their supremacy was short lived as their competitors counter-balanced the situation.
The Taipei pair made some mistakes which ultimately cost them a valuable match point. They allowed the Korean campaigners to finish the first half of the set with a respectable score position.
Baek Choel and Yeon Seong did not squander this opportunity and placed a convincing figure of 11 before the interval.
After the mid-game break, they played with great control and precision to oust the opponent and their coordination was a real feast for the eyes.
They widened the gap in third quarter of the set and then left their challengers far behind with an overwhelming margin of 21-12.
This psychological edge proved the decisive factor in this tussle as Baek Choel and Yeon Seong relished full benefits of their first set win and kept the Taipei shuttlers at the lower end.
They started the beating from very first stroke and maintained that rhythm until the last shot was played.
In the first half of the set, they mounted pressure by putting a mountainous total of 7-2 and then doubled the impact with 11-5 score.
Later part of the game was also dominated by the Korean players as they did not lose focus and locked the honour in a splendid manner.
Baek Choel and Yeon Seong raised hands as victors after placing a winning figure of 21-11. Now their skills will be tested in pre quarter-finals of this GP Gold event.
