2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training – Cactus League Update – Part 2
As Spring Training is in full swing, the Cactus League is already panning out to give a good indication as to which teams are currently dominating the action. A quick glance at the standings shows which clubs got their strategy right and which ones need
to work hard before the start of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
The Los Angeles Angels are having a decent Spring Training session. The team acquired slugger Albert Pujols and pitcher C. J. Wilson in a mega move worth millions during the offseason. There is no doubt that the team is looking to pack extra talent in to
the roster to dominate the regular season this year. However, the true impact of these top dollar professionals will not be truly known until the arduous regular season begins. The addition of Pujols in the line-up has encouraged players like Torii Hunter,
Bobby Abreu and Erick Aybar. The Angels look very strong this year and if their players fire on all cylinders, they have a good chance of going all the way to the World Series.
In the Cactus League, the Colorado Rockies are currently in decent shape. Although they would like to be doing a lot better, the team is showing some good form during Spring Training. The Rockies have some good depth to their line-up as players like Troy
Tulowitzki, Casey Blake, Dexter Fowler and Jhoulys Chacin will be looking to put in a good performance during the remainder of Spring Training. If the team can improve on their consistency then they will be very competitive in the upcoming regular season.
Kansas City Royals are another team in the Cactus League that is poised in a good position. The team is very talented with the likes of Eric Hosmer, Jeff Francoeur, Alcides Perez and Luke Hochevar look set to take on any top tier from the League during the
beginning of the regular season. The Royals will be hoping that the recent acquisition of Alcides Escobar will make a positive impact for the team. The team is desperate for some success this year and will be looking to work hard during Spring Training to
get some much needed momentum to build some confidence.
As of March 18, 2012, the San Diego Padres are sitting with a win-loss record of 8-8 in Spring Training. Basically the team is looking to put in a decent performance and make their way up the table in Spring Training. The Padres are currently looking to
get the perfect balance between their pitching and hitting as they struggle against some of the other teams in the League. Players like Yonder Alonso, Carlos Quentin, Cameron Maybin and Edinson Volquez represent some of the immense talent that the Padres currently
have in their line-up. Getting their strategy perfected and building some sort of consistency in their game-play is something that the team is working hard at during Spring Training. The Padres have a decent team capable of putting in some winning performances
to help them climb up the table.
The above mentioned teams are basically dangling in the middle order of the Cactus League standings right now. Given their talent and hard work, the teams can easily find themselves gaining a few spots on the chart before the regular season begins. As Spring
Training continues, the clubs will be hoping to maintain some sort of consistency and keep their players healthy for the long regular season ahead.
