2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training – Cactus League Update – Part 3
As the teams battle it out during the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training session, a good indication as to which team is doing better than the others can now be identified. With almost half of Spring Training completed, the table is showing some interesting
facts amongst the teams in the Cactus League.
The Cincinnati Reds are struggling slightly this year in Spring Training. The team is sitting down on the table below clubs like the Colorado Rockies, Kansas City Royals and San Diego Padres. The Reds are a very good team with some talented players. It is
unusual to see a team like the Reds sitting down on the table during this part of Spring Training as so much is expected from a high quality team like Cincinnati. However, with still some time left in Spring Training, players like Jay Bruce, Brandon Phillips,
Mat Latos and Bronson Arroyo will be looking to put in a good performance and get some much needed playing time in before the start of the regular season.
Another team that has not found their rhythm so far during Spring Training is the Arizona Diamondbacks. The team seems to be struggling as they try to balance their line-up and get their rotation set. Players such as Justin Upton, Stephen Drew, Josh Collmenter
and Ian Kennedy are working hard and everybody in the League is fully aware of the strength that the Diamondbacks has in their line-up. Arizona will be hoping that their players remain fit for the remaining games of Spring Training and that they can get some
much needed wins under their belt. The Diamondbacks are not to be underestimated as they have the ability to bounce back and dominate any of the top tier teams in the League.
Having lost Prince Fielder and with the recent controversy of Ryan Braun and his successful appeal against testing positive for Performance Enhancing Drugs (PED), the Brewers are struggling to get in to their groove during Spring Training. The team is hoping
that they can get over their recent issues and work hard on the field to get back to their winning ways for the remainder of Spring Training. The team has some tremendous players in the likes of Ryan Braun, Rickie Weeks, Corey Hart and Zack Greinke. The team
understands the importance of Spring Training as the Brewers can try out different combinations in their line-up and rotation. However, with the absence of their star slugger Prince Fielder, only time will tell if they can move on without him and find some
consistency in their performance before the regular season starts.
Teams like the Diamondbacks, Brewers and Reds have the potential of dominating any team in the League as they have shown in their recent past. For them not to be beating every team in Spring Training is nothing to seriously worry about as they usually take
this time to let some of their younger inexperienced players get some valuable game time against some of the top hitters and pitchers in the League. Also, Spring Training is basically an intense work-out session for teams like the Brewers, Diamondbacks and
Reds. They already have very balanced and talented teams as they are very careful to preserve their players from any serious injury during Spring Training. However, these teams will be hoping to get back to their winning ways as the fans will be expecting
to see some wonderful performances from them as soon as the regular season starts.
