2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training – Grapefruit League Update – Part 4
The Grapefruit League is proving to be very exciting during the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training. Most of the top teams are providing the fans and critics with some very high quality baseball. New players are shown off as the teams justify massive
contracts and mixed performances. The basic premise of Spring Training is the get the teams ready for the long arduous regular season.
The Atlanta Braves are having a mixed Spring Training session this year. Some of the offseason moves will obviously take some time to prove fruitful. The Braves will be looking for some type of success this year, as they have been struggling. Players like
Michael Bourn, Chipper Jones, Dan Uggla and Jason Heyward are providing the necessary depth to the line-up that the Braves will be counting on for the regular season. The pitching rotation with the likes of Tim Hudson, Jair Jurrjens and Brandon Beachy will
be working hard to guide the Braves on the defensive end. The Braves are hoping that they can get back to their winning ways before the regular season begins.
Tampa Bay Rays are struggling in the Grapefruit League this year. Although the team is stacked with tremendous talent, the team just has not clicked on either offence or defence. The team will be looking to get things together and start working as a team
on the field if they are to have any type of success this year. The team is loaded with talent with players like Ben Zobrist, Evan Longoria, Carlos Pena and Luke Scott are looking to work hard and take the Rays to the top of the table during Spring Training.
The pitching rotation with the likes of James Shields, Jeremy Hellickson and Matt Moore will definitely provide the necessary depth for the team to count on during the regular season.
The team which seems to be having a hard time in Spring Training is the New York Mets. Unfortunately for them, they just have not clicked on either the defence or offensive end. The team is struggling to make some sort of impression during Spring Training.
The Mets are also going through some serious financial woes as a court has ordered the club to pay back over $300 million dollars tied up with the Madoff scandal. It will be a difficult road ahead for the Mets if they are to become more competitive and try
to make something out of the upcoming regular season.
As Spring Training powers on, not much time is left before the start of the regular season. Most teams are trying to work out their perfect strategy to use to get the most from their players on the field. Finalising their pitching rotations and batting line-ups
is of the utmost importance as each team will be hoping for the best in the regular season. The Grapefruit League has witnessed some tremendous games and the fans will be hoping to see more before Spring Training ends.
The regular season is just a few short weeks away and Spring Training gives a good idea of how each team is able to perform against other top teams in the League. However, the ultimate pressure exists in the regular season as the games are more serious and
each win or loss counts towards the clubs potential spot in the postseason.
