2012 Masters winner Neil Robertson aims to keep his form alive in upcoming snooker events
Snooker fans from around the world saw Australian potter, Neil Robertson becoming the new champion of the 38th Masters Snooker event at the Alexandra Palace in London. The Aussie really showed his class during his run of the Masters and was able
to claim his first ever event title after beating the former World Snooker Champion, England’s Shaun Murphy by the score line of 10-6.
Robertson’s performance has been outstanding throughout the 2011-12 Snooker Season. Despite the fact that he could not win any major tournaments, the Victorian potter managed to maintain his good form during the season after winning a couple of minor ranking
events like the Players Tour Championship (PTC) and Premier League Snooker (PLS).
Currently, the 29-year-old Robertson holds a match winning rate of 79.2 percent after clinching 42 matches out of 53 played. On the other hand, his frame winning ratio is 64.6 percent after claiming 208 frame wins out of 322, which is a bit lower when compared
to other potters in the top-16 rankings. The Thunder from Down Under is now aiming to continue his good performance in upcoming snooker events as well.
“Not many players have won the worlds and the Masters. The UK Championship is the real focus for me now, apart from the world championships,” explained the former World Snooker Champion to the media, “My goal is to keep working hard and to become a multiple
world, UK and Masters champion, just like many of the greats.”
“Maybe winning the Masters will boost my popularity and recognition. When I won the worlds, it wasn't a great final,” added the World Number four who aims to reach the play-offs of Championship League Snooker, “You have to have an awful lot of luck and I
know this run won't last forever. If it doesn't then so be it because it means I will have played in another final.”
The 2012 World Snooker champions are currently playing in the 2012 Championship League Snooker Group 3 matches at the Crondon Park Golf Club. He has hit the third place in the points table after winning two matches against Stephen Hendry and Matthew Stevens.
