After joining the New York Giants, Eli Manning did not get the role of their regular starter straightaway. However, he did not take much time as well to get the role.
In his rookie season, Eli got the starting role in Week 11 against the Atlanta Falcons and successfully retained it. His rookie season was not very ideal, but he gradually overcame his flaws to become the leading quarterback.
2004 Season
After losing their first game of the season, Giants won five out of their next six games. However, they lost the next two as well, paving the way for Eli to take the stage.
Eli debuted as regular starter in Week 11 against Atlanta Falcons and was unable to perform well. He lost his first three games as starter and was shown the bench after that. However, it only took one more game for Giants to make him the starter again.
Eli started the last three games of the season as well, but got his first victory in the final game of the regular season. The Giants finished that season 6-10.
Eli started seven games while playing nine in the season and completed 95 passes of 197 attempts. He got 1,043 passing yards while scoring six touchdowns and throwing nine interceptions.
2005 Season
After a below par rookie season, Eli eventually proved his selection in his second season when Giants were quite successful throughout the regular season, but lost their first playoff game against Carolina Hurricanes.
Eli started every game of the regular season as Giants finished it 11-5. In the regular season, Eli completed 294 passes of 557 attempts for 3,762 yards while scoring 24 touchdowns. He sent 17 interceptions.
2006 season
In the 2006 season, Eli was once again brilliant, but not as good as he was in the previous season. He once again led the team to the playoffs, but failed to win any postseason game, again.
Giants finished the regular season 8-8 and lost against Philadelphia Eagles in the playoffs.
Manning played and started all games of the regular season and completed a total of 301 passes of 522 attempts. He covered 3,244 passing yards and scored 24 touchdowns while throwing 18 interceptions.
After playing three seasons, Manning had proved his worth. However, many critics were still questioning his abilities. They would, however, adopt a different tone soon.
