2012 NFL season itinerary: Cleveland Browns to start campaign from home -NFL News
The National Football League (NFL), the representative body of the American professional football league, has announced 2012 NFL regular season itinerary for the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday, April 17, 2012.
As per the schedule, Browns are set to start their next season campaign with a home game against the Philadelphia Eagles on September 09, 2012.
The formal beginning of the new season is earlier than Browns’ game, and for the first time in more than 60 years, the regular season will start on Wednesday.
The league disclosed to have changed the planned schedule marking start of the fresh season due to the speech from the US president, Barack Obama, on Thursday.
Obama is due to address the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, September 06, and the NFL to avoid a conflict with the speech has rescheduled the regular season start on Wednesday, September 05, 2012.
It is after a long time that Browns are going to face Eagles in the opening game of a season. Last time, it was 1969 when the both sides were against each other in the opening game.
Browns will be starting their new season with a home game for 13th time, out of the total 14 opportunities.
Following to Eagles’ tie, Browns will travel to Cincinnati to play a road game against Bengals, on September 16, 2012.
Next, they play the Buffalo Bills in Cleveland on September 23, and then the Baltimore Ravens in Baltimore in the following week. Ravens’ is a prime time game for Browns, and it is their only prime time tie of the season.
Then, they will have to play the New York Giants in New Jersey on October 07, 2012. After their bye week on November 11, 2012, Browns have a road game against the Dallas Cowboys on November 18, 2012 and a home tie versus the Pittsburgh Steelers, on November
25, 2012.
Their closing game of the season is again against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Pittsburgh on December 30, 2012.
Browns have already started their 2012 NFL season campaign with the voluntary offseason workout from Monday, April 16, 2012.
The team is coming into the next season with almost similar line-up. There might be a change at the quarterback position if they go for signing a quarterback in the upcoming draft to be held from April 26-28, 2012.
