2012 NHL All-Star Skills Competition Patrick Kane amazes in Breakaway Competition
Chicago Blackhawks top notch forward and member of 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) All-Star roster, Patrick Kane, became superman on Saturday night, January 28, 2012, during the All-Star Skill Competition and amazed the crowd with one of his super moves.
The thousands of fans along with the players on the ice and the goalie, Brian Elliott, were stunned how Kane actually managed to score his Breakaway Competition winning goal as he was wearing the traditional superman cape and glasses.
Getting the inspiration from National Basketball Association (NBA) player of the Orlando Magic, Dwight Howard, who also had the same attire on when he competed in the 2008 Slam Dunk Contest, Kane’s parents and a friend, took to a local costume shop to get
the required items.
"Our PR guy, Brandon Faber, I told him about the idea," said Kane. "He went out to a costume shop with my mom and dad, and they got the cape and got the glasses. They had some other ideas for sparklers on my skates, but I wasn't going to try to burn myself
on the ice out there. They did a great job of getting everything for me."
It was not the goal that was impressive, it was how Kane actually presented it that counted as he confused the goalie, making it look like he was controlling the puck with his mind.
"I really didn't care about scoring," Kane said. "I was more about the whole presentation."
It was also reported that Kane had been practicing for the move in advance so that it could be perfect, which he managed to do during the third and final attempt. Kane had not told anyone about the move until that very afternoon which certainly raised anticipation
amongst the spectators.
Topping Kane’s move was certainly not easy and it did not happen that night, but as it is mostly likely he will make the All-Star Game yet again next year in 2013, where it is scheduled to take place in Columbus, Ohio, United States, he will have a lot of
preparing to do in order to set new standards beyond what he has does now.
