2012 NHL Award-giving ceremony on June 20, league starts disclosing nominations-NHL News
The National Hockey League (NHL) is expected to formally kick off the process of the 2012 NHL Awards with nominations of the finalists for top ten categories over the period of next ten days, beginning from Friday, April 20, 2012.
Three players and officials will be selected for each category and one chosen best each from them will be given an award at a ceremony scheduled to be held on June 20, 2012 at Encore Theatre at Wynn Las Vegas.
It is the annual feature of the league and the presentation ceremony is going to be marked with presence of celebrities from entertainment and sports industry, including former and present sport personalities.
With selection of three coaching officials for the Jack Adams and three players for the Foundation Player Award, which is given to a player for the community services, the nomination process is going to be completed on Monday, April 30, 2012.
From Friday, April 20, 2012, the league will start the campaign with nomination of top three ‘vote-getters’ for the Calder Trophy award, which goes to the best rookie player of the year.
A couple of days later, on Monday, April 23, the NHL will come up with selection of top three contenders for Selke Trophy and the Lady Byng Trophy awards, respectively. The awards are presented to the best forward and player with best skills and sportsmanship.
On the next day, Tuesday, top three contenders for Masterton Trophy will be announced, which is given to a player with best perseverance and dedication to the sport of ice hockey.
On the same day, the NHL will make the choice of three candidates for the best General Manager category of the year known to the public.
The league is expected to disclose top three players for the Vezina Trophy award, which is handed over to the best goaltender of the year, on the following Wednesday.
Nominations of the players for Norris Trophy, given to the best defenseman of the year, are going to be revealed on Thursday.
Furthermore, the league office is going to make public the names of top three players for the Hart Trophy, which is awarded to the most valuable player to a team.
