2012 National Circuit GP Finals: Misbun Ramdan outshines Tan Kian Meng in Group A match

Malaysia’s young but talented Men’s Singles expert Misbun Ramdan Bin Mohmed Misbun performed tremendously and trounced Tan Kian Meng in group stage of the Maybank National Circuit Grand Prix Finals on December 27, 2012.
This brief meeting held in local badminton complex of Alor Setar and both native shuttlers kept the audience intact while piling final figures of 21-15 and 21-12.
However, Misbun Ramdan displayed superior finishing skills and wrapped this showdown with an impressive 2-0 win.
The fifth seeded shuttler put his rival under huge pressure by clinching first match point on merit and then served notice of his dominance by winning second set.
On the other hand, Kian Meng put an honest effort but luck was not on his side and he had to face a straight-set defeat.
In the opening game, Misbun Ramdan launched a brisk attack and established an unassailable lead. He did not lose grip in next couple of rallies and mounted pressure by adding many valuable points in his total.
He finished first half of the set with an indomitable score position of 11 and started latter part of the game in high spirit.
After the mid-game break, Kian Meng gathered some pace and narrowed the gap on points table but then his fluctuated performance put his expedition to halt.
Meanwhile, Misbun Ramdan kept on moving forward at steady pace and left his competitor far behind with a significant margin. He maintained a decent lead of six points and won this crucial set with 21-15 score on the board.
The following game was relatively a dead contest as it remained interesting just until the half time.
Initially, Kian Meng played with great conviction and matched his opponent’s skills but then few unforced errors triggered the collapse.
Misbun Ramdan made best out of this situation and established a strong grip over the game. He finished first half of the set with a respectable figure of 11 and then ruled the court after the one-minute interval.
He registered an overwhelming margin of 21-12 and sealed his first victory in group stage of 2012 Maybank National Circuit Grand Prix Finals.
