2012 National Circuit GP Finals: Sannatasah Saniru, Tee Jing Yi prove their worth in group stage
Women’s Doubles duo Sannatasah Saniru-Tee Jing Yi of Malaysia showed consistency in its performance and registered another victory in group stage of Maybank National Circuit Grand Prix Finals on December 27, 2012.
Both partners forged fruitful chemistry against the compatriot team Kisona A/P Selvaduray-Tew Jia Jia and wrapped this showdown with a favourable result of 21-15 and 21-18.
Sannatasah Saniru and Tee Jing played with a cautious approach in the beginning of first set and this allowed their rivals to gain an early advantage.
However, they did not remain at the lower end in next couple of rallies and managed to tip the scale in their favour with couple of consecutive points.
At first, they levelled the score with 7-7 and then established a decent lead before the announcement of one-minute break.
They finished first half of the set with a three-point difference and put their challengers under huge pressure.
The twosome of Kisona and Tew Jia could not lift this burden and knelt down tamely in latter part of the game.
First sign of trouble came when they let many valuable points slip from their hands immediately after the interval and then few back-to-back blunders doubled the trouble for them.
On the other hand, Sannatasah Saniru and Tee Jing did not fritter away this opportunity and strengthened their grip in third quarter of the set.
They did not allow the opposing team to proceed on points table and claimed this crucial match point with 21-15 score.
The second set kept the audience intact until game point situation as both contenders displayed great badminton skills.
Initially, Kisona and Tew Jia played with great control and it was felt that they will take this contest to third set but then their competitors turned the tables with a staggering knock.
The partnership of Sannatasah Saniru and Tee Jing looked at its best after couple of establishing rallies.
Both Malaysian campaigners started the beating after 7-10 and got into commanding position in third quarter of set.
They placed a convincing margin of 21-18 and setup their next group match with Chow Mei Kuan-Lee Meng Yean.
