2012 Opponent Preview: Arizona Cardinals face Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons
Opponent preview has now reached week 9 of the regular season of Arizona Cardinals. We have previously previewed first eight weeks.
In this episode, we will preview games to be played in week 9 and 11. Week 10 will be bye week for Arizona Cardinals.
Week 9: Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers are one of the main contenders for the Super Bowl this season. They were almost unbeatable in the 2011 regular season finishing it 15-1.
After giving such a good performance in the regular season, they were absolute favourites to go to the Super Bowl.
However, their hopes were shattered when they lost their playoff game against New York Giants, who went on to win the title.
This year, Packers are coming back on the field with a great zeal and eagerness to go through to the next stage.
Their major downfall in the playoffs last season was their defence and this problem will become more prominent this season.
Their defence is susceptible against good play. In order to prevent their defence from falling, Packers have added Jerel Worthy and Nick Perry into the squad.
Their offensive team is one of the best in the league. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is capable of producing game-winning performances consistently.
Rodgers also gets a good support from his fellow players who have the skills to improvise on his pass. If Cardinals are able to win this one, it would be a massive upset.
Head-to-Head
A total of 73 games have been played between Cardinals and Packers. Cardinals have won 23 games and Packers have won 46 games. Four games have ended in a tie.
Week 11: Atlanta Falcons
When ranked among all the teams in the league, Atlanta Falcons would be in the middle of the tier. They have an average roster which is quite likely to go as far as the playoffs this season.
Falcons do have players that have performed well in the past, but they have now passed their peak. Their output is declining every season.
The player who has been most impressive for Falcons is Michael Turner. The running back has given outstanding results throughout his four years in the Falcons.
Defence is under threat this season because of lack of young legs on the starting line. The experienced players must be amalgamated with young talent to improve the roster depth.
Falcons have good experienced players that can win the game for them against Cardinals. Having coming from a bye week, Cardinals would be fresh and this might give them an edge.
Head-to-Head
Cardinals and Falcons have played 26 games against each other. Cardinals have won 15 games while Falcons have won 11 games.
