2012 Opponent Preview: Arizona Cardinals face Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins
This is the second edition of Arizona Cardinals’ series of opponent preview. Here, we will preview games that will be played in Week 3 and 4 of the season.
Cardinals will face a tough game against Philadelphia Eagles and then they will face a relatively easy game against Miami Dolphins.
Week 3: Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles have been underachievers in the league for the past two years. Although they had the talent and depth on the roster that is required for a title winning team, they were unable to fulfil their potential.
Last season, they were very disappointing and finished 8-8. Although they finished the season very well, it was the bad start that let the team down.
Their star performer quarterback Michael Vick did not perform as per the expectations and also missed a few games owing to injuries.
There were many excuses from the Eagles about their lacklustre performance last season. The most prominent was the lack of proper offseason training with their new players due to the lockout.
All these concerns should not be of worry now, as Vick is back fully fit and Eagles have all the time to train in the offseason.
Eagles desperately need to perform well this season. They have one of the most talented and deep rosters in the whole of league.
Head-to-Head
Cardinals and Eagles have played 116 games against each other. Cardinals have won 56 games while Eagles have won 55 games. Five games were tied.
Week 4: Miami Dolphins
Dolphins were miserable last season. They finished 6-10. Things are not looking that good this season too.
Dolphins have many options for the quarterback position but do not have anyone who could dominate the game.
Dolphins are yet to decide who will be their starting quarterback. This game will also feature competition between the quarterbacks of the two teams.
Dolphins have put in place a 4-3 defensive system. We have to wait and see how effective this system will be for the team best suited for a 3-4 formation.
Last time Dolphins and Cardinals faced each other was in the 2008 season. Cardinals won that game 31-10.
Head-to-Head
Cardinals and Dolphins have played ten games between each other. Cardinals have won twice while Dolphins have won eight games.
