2012 Opponent Preview: Arizona Cardinals face St. Louis Rams and Buffalo Bills
In this edition, we will preview the games to be played in Week 5 and 6 of the regular season by Arizona Cardinals.
On paper, these two encounters seem less threatening, but the team that performs well on the given day will eventually win.
Week 5: St. Louis Rams
St. Louis Rams’ last season performance was pathetic as they finished it 2-14.
As expected, Rams have made quite a few additions on the roster this offseason. Yet, all those additions might not be enough for making a winning team.
When it comes to offence, Rams quarterback Sam Bradford is their only hope.
Meanwhile, efforts from wide receivers and running backs were far from good during the past few seasons. Their performances have been below average. Moreover, lack of support for Bradford means less output overall.
Rams and Cardinals are on the same level as far as talent is concerned. So this game will be a close encounter.
The recent contest between these two sides was in the 2011 season. Cardinals won that game 23-20.
Head-to-Head
Cardinals and Rams have played 69 games against each other. Cardinals have won 33 games and Rams have won 34 games. Two games were tied.
Week 6: Buffalo Bills
Buffalo Bills have been underdogs for the last few seasons. Although they finished 6-10 last year, overall it was a fairly good season.
In this offseason, Bills have made a few improvements in the defensive team. They have brought players that will strengthen the defence.
Apart from that, quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will have the most influence. If he produces quality play then this team is definitely going into the playoffs.
Their Coach Chan Gailey has done a remarkable job in improving the team without having any elite player.
Last time these two teams played each other was in the 2008 season. Cardinals won that game comprehensively 41-17.
Head-to-Head
Cardinals and Bills have faced each other just nine times. Cardinals have won four games while Bills have won five.
