2012 Opponent Preview: Dallas Cowboys host Chicago Bears in Week 4
Dallas Cowboys will play another home game before heading to their bye week. In Week 4, Cowboys will host the Chicago Bears who, like the Cowboys, finished the 2011 season 8-8.
Both these teams have a point to prove this season as they make another attempt to reach postseason.
Although Bears had done well to reach the postseason in 2010 by winning 11 games in the regular season, their slump in 2011 brought them in the line of fire.
The road for Bears is already tough in presence of the destructive Green Bay Packers and the surging Detroit Lions in the National Football Conference (NFC) North.
Bears have to take care of their offensive woes in order to dominate the Cowboys, whose defence might not be easy to penetrate. However, it is not even impossible for Bears to win this game, but since Cowboys will have home-field advantage they might enter
the game with more confidence.
Also, if Cowboys perform well on the offence and quarterback Tony Romo plays as per his potential then Bears might face a tough challenge.
Head-to-head
Cowboys and Bears have faced each other 22 times. In their regular season meetings, Cowboys have edge with 11 victories while Bears have nine victories to their name. In their postseason meetings, Bears have not won any game while Cowboys have won twice.
Cowboys and Bears are going to play only one game in the 2012 season.
Last meeting
Cowboys hosted Bears in Week 2 game of the 2010 season. It was a very competitive game as both teams tried to get past each other whenever they got a chance.
Bears were the first ones to get a scoring move. In the first quarter, they scored a field goal to take the lead, but Cowboys scored a touchdown with less than three minutes left in the quarter to snatch the lead. However, Bears managed a touchdown just
near the end of the quarter and took the lead again.
Cowboys got the lead back again by scoring a touchdown in the second quarter, but Bears did not waste time in responding. They scored a touchdown and a field goal to take the lead.
In the third quarter, Cowboys managed a field goal, but Bears increased the pressure in the final quarter by scoring a touchdown. Cowboys replied by scoring a field goal, but could not overcome the deficit. Bears won the game 27-20.
