2012 Opponent Preview: Indianapolis Colts face Green Bay Packers and New York Jets
In this edition of opponent preview, we will preview games that Indianapolis Colts will play in Week 5 and 6 of the regular season.
In Week 5 Colts will face the consistent Green Bay Packers and in Week 6 they will be against thrilling New York Jets.
Week 5: Green Bay Packers
Even with the defence that was ranked 31st in the league last season, Green Bay Packers were able to finish the season 15-1.
They remain unbeaten throughout the 2011 regular season, thanks to a nearly unbeatable offence.
They have immense talent as well as great depth in their offensive team. That is why they remain one of the major contenders for the title again this season.
The good news for Packers this offseason is that their marvellous quarterback Aaron Rodgers is 100% fit and ready to play.
He is the focal point of the offensive team, making superb plays on a consistent level.
Opposite is the case for Packers’ defence. They were one of the worst last season. They were completely scattered and did not have any consistency.
Head-to-Head
Colts and Packers have played 42 games against each other. Colts have won 20 games and Packers have won 21 games. One game ended in a tie.
Week 6: New York Jets
New York Jets have some new weapons in their hands to go with this season. This includes Tim Tebow, who will face his former team for the first time, yet it is uncertain that he will start the game or not.
Meanwhile, Jets starting quarterback Mark Sanchez will feel the heat in Tebow’s presence. This could be his last opportunity to cement himself as the starter.
Jets have planned to play Tebow in the red zone. This could be a positive move, as he scored most of his touchdowns last season from the red zone.
Defence is looking secure again. Yet they have a weak link at the safety position as they start with rookie Yeremiah Bell and LaRon Landry.
Head-to-Head
Colts and Jets have played a total of 70 games against each other. Colts have won 41 games while Jets have managed to win 29 games.
