2012 Opponent Preview: Indianapolis Colts face Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots
As we continue our previews of Indianapolis opponents, we look into games that Colts will play in Week 9 and 11 of the regular season.
Colts will host Miami Dolphins in Week 9. They will be on road when they take on New England Patriots in Week 11.
Week 9: Miami Dolphins
Miami Dolphins are again entering the field with an average roster this season. They finished the last season 6-10.
There were loopholes in the team that were expected to be removed. Yet things looked totally changed this offseason, as Dolphins did not make any significant changes in the roster.
In the offensive side, head coach has made some big decisions, whose output is uncertain right now.
Brandon Marshall is no more with the Dolphins, which can only increase the problems for them. The remaining bunch of wide receivers does not seem to have enough fire power in them to threaten the opposing defence.
Defence showed mix bag of performances last season, not letting a single touchdown in some games, while giving up more than 500 yards in others.
Head-to-Head
A total of 70 encounters have taken place between Colts and Dolphins. Colts have managed to win 24 games while Dolphins have won 46 games.
Week 11: New England Patriots
New England Patriots are coming this season with one goal in mind that is to win the title this time.
Patriots had an astounding 2011 season, as they finished the regular season 13-3 and won all the playoff games to reach the Super Bowl where they lost to New York Giants.
Patriots’ offence looks to be as strong as ever, with Tom Brady in his prime form. He played a pivotal role in team’s qualification to the playoffs in nine of their last 12 seasons.
The team will also be bolstered with the return of their big players like Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez.
They have drafted some exciting players for the defensive team. Patriots’ defensive record was not that good last season.
Head-to-Head
Colts and Patriots have played 75 games versus each other. Colts have won 29 games and Patriots have won 46 games.
