2012 Opponent Preview: Indianapolis Colts face Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars
It is the second article of the opponent preview series of Indianapolis Colts.
In this edition, we will preview opponents Colts will face in Week 2 and 3. In Week 2 they will face Minnesota Vikings and in Week 3 Colts will be against Jacksonville Jaguars.
Week 2: Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota Vikings are again looking dismal again this season as they continue to reconstruct their roster.
Vikings are faced with many problems. First of all, they have players who have passed their prime and are unable to provide winning performances on a consistent level.
On the other hand, they have players who are too young to establish themselves as leader on the field.
After going through a tough rookie season, Christian Ponder will be looking to have a breakout season this time.
Defensive side has a quality player in Jared Allen. He was phenomenal last season, falling just one short of record for the most sacks in a season with 22 sacks.
Also their rookie defensive back looks to be a promising prospect. Overall prospects of the Vikings this season are not that great.
Head-to-Head:
Colts and Vikings have faced each other on 23 occasions. Colts have won 15 times while Vikings have won just 7 games. One game ended in a tie.
Week 3: Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars have gone through a complete makeover this offseason. Apart from changes in the administrative side, they have hired Mike Mularkey as a new head coach.
Mularkey is coming with a good reputation, but changing the fortune of Jaguars is not an easy task.
Their offensive play lacks the depth and skills required to win many games. Quarterback Blaine Gabbert has not been able to impress many during the offseason minicamp.
The defensive team is the stronghold of Jaguars. Last season, Jaguars’ defence was ranked as sixth best in the whole league.
Jaguars’ season will depend on how their quarterback performs and how the rest of the offence responds. The two teams will play two games against each other this season.
Head-to-Head:
Colts and Jaguars have played 22 games against each other. Colts have won 15 games and Jaguars have won 7 games.
