2012 Opponent Preview: Minnesota Vikings face Green Bay Packers, St. Louis Rams and Houston Texans
Our opponent preview of Minnesota Vikings continues as we reach the end of the series. We will preview here the games to be played by Vikings in Week 13, 15 and 16 of the regular season.
In week 14, Vikings will play their second game against Chicago Bears and in week 17 they will again face Green Bay Packers.
Week 13: Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers had an astounding 2011 season until they faced New York Giants in the playoffs. They had finished their season 15-1.
It was heartbreaking for Packers to miss out on the chance of winning the title after such an amazing season.
This year, Packers will enter the field with a fire under their belly to get the Lombardi Trophy.
Their offence seems to have the capacity to produce big drives as they have players like quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who can actually make any team in the league a winning unit.
Apart from offence, Packers’ defence does seem to be susceptible against good players. In order to solve this problem, they have drafted a few young players for the defensive team, but it is uncertain how they will sustain the pressure
of the professional league.
Head-to-Head
Both teams have faced each other 102 times. Vikings have won 48 games Packers have won 53. Only one game ended in a tie.
Week 15: St. Louis Rams
St. Louis Rams are coming from a below par season. It was expected that they would strengthen their roster with talented players.
Although they have made some upgrades, it will not make them a consistent winner.
Rams’ major strength is their quarterback Sam Bradford. He is yet to prove his worth effectively as he does not have the support of quality wide receivers and running backs. Currently, he is playing with average players.
Defensively, Rams are looking good after adding substantial amount of depth and talent on the roster. Yet when it comes to playing against Vikings, Rams could face a lot of difficulties.
Head-to-Head
Vikings and Rams have played 41 games against each other. Vikings have won 23 while Rams have won 16 games. Two games ended in a tie. These two sides have played as many as seven games against each other in the playoffs.
Week 16: Houston Texans
Houston Texans are looking forward to having another good season on the field. Last season they finished 10-6.
Texans roster is looking great and well balanced this season. They have quality players for every position.
It is important that their main players remain fit. If they do remain fit then they will optimize the teams’ chances of getting a shot at the Super Bowl.
Texans are definitely favourites against Vikings.
Head-to-Head
These teams have played only two games versus each other. Both of these games were won by Vikings.
