2012 Opponent Preview: Minnesota Vikings face Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears
We continue our series of opponent previews of Minnesota Vikings games. This time we will preview teams that Vikings will play in Week 9 and 12.
We have previously previewed the first eight weeks of the season. In week 10, Vikings will play Detroit Lions, which we have already previewed. Week 11 will be bye Week for the Vikings.
Week 9: Seattle Seahawks
Last season, Seattle Seahawks finished 7-9. There are many uncertainties in the Seahawks camp this season. One of those is their quarterback situation.
They have signed former Green Bay Packers quarterback Matt Flynn. He played only five games while starting one last season, but was able to get as many as six touchdowns.
Tarvaris Jackson and Russell Wilson are also in contention for the starting quarterback spot.
Running back Marshawn Lynch is one of major players on the roster. He has not been getting support from his quarterbacks of late to put up good performances.
The downside of Seahawks is their defence. They do not have the quality defensive backs that can be productive against real tough teams.
Last time Vikings and Seahawks faced each other was in the 2009 season. Vikings were completely dominant during that game and finished 35-9.
Head-to-Head
Vikings and Seahawks have contested 11 games against each other. Vikings have won five while Seahawks have won six.
Week 12: Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears had an unfortunate 2011 season. Last season they were 7-3 before their quarterback Jay Cutler got injured. Also, in the 13th game their influential running back Matt Forte got injured and it was all
down the hill since then.
Cutler will return from the injury and this time he will have one of the best receiving corps in the entire league. Offensive line has some filling up to do at the left tackle.
The defence, as always, has the capability to take the team to the playoffs. They have young players in the line-up that can keep up the pace against top-notch offensive teams.
It will be very difficult for Vikings to beat a team like Bears, who have the talent on both sides of the field.
Their previous meeting held on January 01, 2012. Bears won that match 17-13. These two teams will play each other twice this season.
Head-to-Head
102 games have been played between Vikings and Bears. Vikings are ahead with 52 wins while Bears have 48 wins. Two games ended in a tie. Both Bears and Vikings have played each other once in playoffs.
