2012 Opponent Preview: Seattle Seahawks face Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots
Out opponent preview series now takes a look at the games Seattle Seahawks will play in Week 5 and 6 of the 2012 regular season.
We have previously previewed games that will be played in the first four weeks of the season.
The game against Carolina panthers will be competitive, with both teams hoping to dominate each other. The next game will be against New England Patriots. This game is likely to be a one-sided affair as the Pats are among the best.
Week 5: Carolina Panthers
Carolina Panthers are a team that is in a process of rebuilding. Last season, they finished 6-10.
Fortunately, they have a leader to build a team around. Quarterback Cam Newton was astonishing in his rookie season.
He has all the talent in the world to take the team forward. He broke the record of Peyton Manning for covering most passing yards in a rookie season.
Newton was the most prominent player of Panthers throughout the last season as he scored 21 touchdowns. Newton has the support of wide receiver Steve Smith to increase his output this time.
Offensively, Panthers are very good, yet when it comes to the defence, they do not have the talent to win consistently.
This can certainly be at Seahawks’ advantage. All in all, it will be a tough game for the defence of both teams.
Their last meeting took place in the 2010 season. Seahawks won that game 31-14.
Head-to-Head
Seahawks and Panthers have played just five games against each other. Seahawks have won three games and Panthers have won twice.
Week 6: New England Patriots
New England Patriots have been consistently coming into playoffs since a long time. Last year, they went into the Super Bowl, but lost to New York Giants.
Patriots will be looking to go all the way this season. Their quarterback Tom Brady has been phenomenal throughout the past few years.
Patriots defence is not that perfect. They have few problems in the pass rush and in the secondary. If their defence fails to perform against good sides, they might face some trouble.
Their previous meeting took place in 2008. It was a thrilling encounter, which was won by Patriots 24-10.
Head-to-Head
Seahawks and Patriots have faced each other 15 times. Seahawks have won seven times while Patriots have won eight games.
