2012 Opponent Preview: St. Louis Rams face Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals
In this episode, we will look into the regular season games to be played by St. Louis Rams in Week 4 and 5. Rams will have home-field advantage in both these games.
Week 4: Seattle Seahawks
Seattle Seahawks have a strong roster this year after a below par run in the 2011 season that finished 7-9.
Seahawks have a serious matter to resolve; they have to decide who will be their starting quarterback. Matt Flynn, Tarvaris Jackson and Russell Wilson all are competing for it.
Last season, Jackson was Rams’ starter. His rival, Flynn, has joined Seahawks after playing four seasons for Green Bay Packers.
Apart from the quarterback debate, Marshawn Lynch has been making the headlines in recent times. Since joining Seahawks, Lynch has been dominating, to say the least. His solid strong running game has been influential in the offence’s overall productivity.
He alongside wide receiver Sidney Rice has been the backbone of offensive team. Yet they need better support from their quarterback in order to give better output. These two sides will face each other twice this season.
Head-to-Head
Rams and Seahawks have played 28 games against each other. Rams have won 11 games and Seahawks have won 17 games.
Week 5: Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals and Seahawks are facing a similar situation. They have quarterbacks who have not yet shown outstanding performances. The starting quarterback of both teams in the 2012 season is not announced yet.
Kevin Kolb and John Skelton are fighting for the starting place. Both have yet to give consistent performances. They need to show winning game-play in order to push Cardinals towards better standings. Wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is also hoping for the
same.
Although Fitzgerald has been a consistent performer for Cardinals, he has yet to receive the due support from his quarterbacks.
Fitzgerald will play alongside Michael Floyd, giving Cardinals a dual weapon at the position. Running game also looks to be improved. Offensive line is also upgraded with the addition of Adam Snyder and Bobbie Massie.
Cardinals look to have a dominating season, defensively. They have a quality defensive line along with talented players in the secondary. Both teams will play two games against each other this season.
Head-to-Head
Rams and Cardinals have faced each other 69 times. Rams have 34 wins while Cardinals have 33 wins. Two games have ended in a tie.
