2012 Opponent Preview: St. Louis Rams face Washington Redskins and Chicago Bears
Our season preview continues as we look into Week 2 and 3 of St. Louis Rams’ regular season.
In Week 2, Rams will play Washington Redskins who are looking for a comeback after a disappointing season. After that, Rams will be on the road as they face Chicago Bears in Week 3.
Week 2: Washington Redskins
Washington Redskins will look to give a better output this time after ending the last season 5-11. Lack of a quality quarterback was one of the reasons for their poor season.
This season, Redskins wasted no time in getting a skilful player. After trading up their pick with Rams, they drafted one of the most fascinating prospects, Robert Griffin III (RG3). Griffin looks to be a very promising talent. He seems to be the only outstanding
player in the whole offensive scheme.
Apart from Griffin, most of the players are underrated and lack the skills needed to take the team into the playoffs. It is too early to judge how Griffin will perform with such an average talent.
Their defence does look good in presence of players like Stephen Bowen and Jarvis Jenkins.
The last encounter between these two teams took place in the 2011 season. Redskins won that game 17-10.
Head-to-Head
A total of 36 games have been played between Rams and Redskins. Redskins have won 24 while Rams have won 11. One game ended in a tie.
Week 3: Chicago Bears
After a season marked with injuries, Chicago Bears are looking to make a return with all guns running. Last season, they finished 8-8.They had a good start to the season winning seven out of their first ten games.
In the following game, Bears quarterback Jay Cutler got injured and failed to play the rest of the season. It was a big blow for the Bears as Cutler had been their most phenomenal player.
Bears’ offence is coming this season under the direction of a new offensive coordinator after the exit of Mike Martz. Cutler will be happy with this update as he had few issues with Martz.
Bears defence is strong as usual. They have veterans who have the experience to curtail panic situations against threatening teams.
Head-to-Head
Rams and Bears have faced each other 89 times. Rams have won 35 of those games while Bears have won 51. Three games were tied.
