2012 Opponent Preview: Tampa Bay Buccaneers face Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints
After the bye week, Buccaneers will play against Kansas City Chiefs. After that they will face New Orleans Saints in week 7. For Buccaneers, both of these encounters will be at home.
Buccaneers will have the advantage to play at home and to be fresh after bye week. However, when it comes to overall strength of a team, both of the opponents have better players on their roster than Buccaneers.
Week 6: Kansas City Chiefs
Chiefs are a side that is desperately looking for a better production from their quarterback Matt Cassel in this coming season.
Last season, Chiefs finished 7-9, largely due to inconsistent performance by Cassel. He scored a miserable total of 10 touchdowns and covered only 1,713 yards, getting a poor quarterback rating of 76.6.
Cassel is surrounded by talented players at every position. He needs to utilize them better in order to have a good season.
Even with all the talent available in the offensive team, an underperforming Cassel could mean an underperforming offence.
On the other side of the field, defence has been much more consistent in its performances. Defensive end Tamba Hali led the team very well last season. It is very likely for the defence to perform even better this time as they have sensational
players like Dontari Poe.
Week 7: New Orleans Saints
In a league highly dominated by quarterbacks, every team needs a quality quarterback in order to propel into postseason.
Saints are fortunate enough to have such a player. Quarterback Drew Brees has been a consistent performer throughout his time in Saints.
Last season, he was among the best quarterbacks and was named Offensive Player of the Year.
It will be interesting to see how Saints and Brees play in absence of many of their key players and coaching staff including head coach Sean Payton. All of them are banned due to their involvement in the “Bounty Gate” scandal.
Saints’ defence has to maintain pressure in order to give more play time to their offensive team. The two sides will play two games against each other.
