2012 Opponent Preview: Washington Redskins face Philadelphia Eagles
As our opponent preview of Washington Redskins continues, we have now reached the third quarter of the season. Week 10 will be their and they will host Philadelphia Eagles in Week 11.
Week 11: Philadelphia Eagles
For some, Philadelphia Eagles might not look that promising this season after a poor show in the 2011 season, but with the players they have added into the roster it is more likely that will be more competitive this time.
Their quarterback Michael Vick will again be the centre of attention. There is no doubt about how talented this guy is, yet one has to be fit enough to utilize his talent.
Vick missed three games last season due to an injury. Vick is currently aged 32, so he must be facing some difficulties in keeping himself fit.
Apart from Vick, Eagles have a very strong running game. LeSean McCoy is probably the best running back in the whole of National Football Conference (NFC) East division. Eagles will rely heavily on him to cover more yards and make the
overall offence better.
The defence was certainly very soft last season. In order to cure this ailing defence, Eagles drafted defensive lineman Fletcher Cox this year.
Eagles will also be looking forward to Nate Allen having a full fitness and consistent play throughout the season. They have also brought some experience in the defence by acquiring services of former Pro Bowler DeMeco Ryans.
Head Coach Andy Reid will be feeling pressure to push his team into the playoffs. Yet in a sense Eagles are looking much better than they were last season. They will surprise a few teams only if their major players stay fit and give good
consistent performance.
Eagles will be favourites to win this tie. Eagles and Redskins will play two games against each other in the upcoming season. The other game will be played in Week 16.
Head-to-Head
Redskins and Eagles have played 156 games against each other. Redskins have won 79 games while Eagles have won 71 games. Six games have ended in a tie.
