2012 Opponent Preview Week 2 &3: Washington Redskins face St. Louis Rams and Cincinnati Bengals
We now look into Week 2 and 3 of the regular season. In these weeks Washington Redskins will play against St. Louis Rams and Cincinnati Bengals.
Week 2: St. Louis Rams
St. Louis Rams are a team that has been in the bottom of the league for last five years. With a 2-14 record last season, Rams needed some drastic improvement to become a better team.
For this, they hired a new head coach Jeff Fisher. Fisher was quick in action as he added many players. Fisher likes to have strong roster depth in his team.
It was a sensible act as Rams faced the situation of having limited amount of players due to many injuries last season. Rams will have to be patient with their new players and they also have to be prepared to sustain failures due to inexperience
of those players.
Rams’ quarterback Sam Bradford will have to prove that he can play the whole season giving good performance without getting injured.
In the defence Rams have added veteran Cortland Finnegan, who will give the experience Rams desperately require in the centre of the defence.
The last time Redskins and Rams played against each other was in October of last year. Redskins won that game 17-10.
Head-to-Head
Redskins and Rams have played 36 games against each other. Redskins have managed to win 24 games while Rams have won 11 games. One game ended in a tie.
Week 3: Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati Bengals look to have a roster filled with some superb young players. These young guns played exceptionally well last season as they finished 9-7.
Having such a good regular season, Bengals were unfortunate not to qualify for the playoffs. In order to give a better shot for the title, they have added excellent players.
Players like A.J. Green and Andy Dalton were phenomenal in their rookie season. After spending a season in the professional league, they should be more comfortable this time and would be able to give better productivity.
However, the defensive team still lacks the finesse to win many games.
Bengals have a team for the future. They have the players who could make them a title winning team within the next few years.
Head-to-Head
Redskins and Bengals have faced each other eight times. Both the teams have won four games each.
