2012 Opponent Preview Week 6 & 7: Washington Redskins face Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants
Our Opponent preview series continues as we look into the game Washington Redskins will play throughout the season.
This edition covers the games that will be played in Week 6 and 7 of the regular season. Redskins will host Minnesota Vikings in Week 6. After that, they will be on road to face New York Giants.
The game against Vikings looks to be a competitive one with both teams coming up with a better roster this season, while the game against the defending champions will be very tough one for Redskins.
Week 6: Minnesota Vikings
As their rebuilding phase continues, Minnesota Vikings are expected to struggle in some areas in the 2012 season.
Their veterans are aging and many of them have passed their years of prominence and are inching towards their retirement.
On the other side, they have players who are too young and do not have the experience to lead the team.
Quarterback play has also been one of their worries. Christian Ponder displayed a very poor show last season. Many have doubts about his guts to take the team on to the next level. Vikings do have some real talent in the defensive team
with the likes of Jared Allen.
Head-to-Head:
Redskins and Vikings have played 21 games against each other. Redskins have won 11 games and Vikings have won 10 games.
Week 7: New York Giants
New York Giants are team that has made their Super Bowl winning roster even more superb. As they won the Lombardi Trophy last season, some of their important players were injured as well. As this coming season is getting closer, most of
those are returning to fitness.
Giants have also added players who are looking to be very thrilling.  In the offensive team, they have added running back David Wilson and wide receiver Rueben Randle.
The pair looks very impressive and will certainly be very helpful for quarterback Eli Manning, who played the most vital role in their pursuit for title.
Head-to-Head:
Redskins and Giants have played a total of 160 games versus each other. Redskins have won on 64 occasions while Giants have won a massive 92 times. Four games ended in a tie.
