2012 Paralympics Games tickets to go on sale soon
The tickets for the 2012 Paralympic Games will go on sale today, Septemebr 9, with the amount of tickets that are expected to be sold to be more than 1.5 million.
The Paralympic Games for which the ticket sales will be opened feature a total of 20 sports that will cover 312 sessions in all. The sales window is going to remain open unitl the 26th
of September.
Interestingly, the method adopted for the sale of the tickets is similar to the one that was followed for the sale of the London 2012 Olympic Games tickets. The ticket sales of the London Olympics
has not received much appreciation but has been subject to a significant amount of criticism.
The methodology of the sales follow a ballot system in which the candidates file an application listing the events they would want to view based on a priority. The applications than gets selected
through a random ballot system after which the successful candidates are informed of the results through email. In relation to the London Olympics, quite a few applicants who were selected for the tickets were still dissatisfied because the events that they
got were not the ones they had wanted to attend. Other than that, the major chunk of applicants that received a ‘sorry-to-inform-you’ email were irritated with the fact of having spent so much time coping with the slow website to first register the application,
only to have it rejected later on.
Jeremy Hunt, who is the Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport made the following comments regarding the sale of tickets: “Britain is the home of the Paralympic Games and
for most of us 2012 will be the only time we have the opportunity to watch it on home soil. So I urge everyone to apply for tickets and make the most of this fantastic sporting event. There will undoubtedly be many inspirational moments and stories - so come
and watch world class sport in world class venues in a world class city."
The tickets for the Paralympic Games are available in various prices. The range for adults tickets is from £10 to £500.
