2012 Season Preview: Dallas Cowboys face Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10
This could be one of the most interesting games of the 2012 season. Both Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles are again hoping to reach the playoffs and they will try their best to overpower each other.
Both represent the National Football Conference (NFC) East and this makes it more interesting as sometimes only one team from a division qualifies for postseason.
It is also possible that both these teams do not reach the playoffs this year as New York Giants, the defending Super Bowl champions, will also try their best to secure their title.
Whatever happens, there is no denying that this game is going to be a tough competition as both sides have pretty good rosters, especially after the changes made by both of them this offseason.
Eagles’ offence led by Michael Vick and Cowboys’ offence led by Tony Romo will face strict competition from each other.
Eagles and Cowboys have also very good defensive units. So it is expected that a thrilling encounter will take place.
Head-to-head
Cowboys and Eagles have faced each other 106 times. In their regular season meetings, Cowboys have won 56 games while Eagles have won 46 games. In their postseason meetings, Cowboys have won three games while Eagles have only won once. In the 2012 season,
Cowboys are going to play two games against Eagles.
Last meeting
Cowboys hosted Eagles in Week 16 game of the 2011 season. The situation in the NFC East was not clear and both these teams including the Giants had equal chance of qualifying for the postseason.
It remained a low-scoring game as Eagles’ defence dominated most part of it. In the first quarter, Cowboys did not get any scoring move while Eagles got a touchdown. In the second quarter, Cowboys once again went goalless while Eagles again provided only
one scoring move. They entered the halftime with 14-0 lead.
The third quarter saw Eagles scoring a field goal while the Cowboys were still struggling to find their first scoring move. Early in the fourth quarter, Eagles added another field goal.
The Cowboys eventually got their first and only scoring move of the game in the last minute when they scored a touchdown. Romo was forced out of the game due to a hand injury. Eagles easily won the game 20-7.
