2012 Season Preview: Dallas Cowboys face Seattle Seahawks in Week 2
Coming off a 7-9 2011 season, the Seattle Seahawks are going to face a tough competition against the Dallas Cowboys.
Although both teams are equally capable of winning this encounter, Seahawks might have to put in a little more effort to dominate the game.
As far as the offence is concerned, Cowboys must think of dominating the Seahawks right from the start and quarterback Tony Romo’s role will be very crucial here.
When it comes to the defence, the Cowboys will once again rely on their new defensive strategy, which could either be surprisingly difficult for Seahawks to handle or prove to be very easy for scoring points.
Whatever the case is, if the Cowboys defence is able to resist the pressure applied by the Seahawks offence, they can dominate the game.
Head-to-head
Seahawks and Cowboys have faced each other 14 times. In their regular season meetings, Cowboys have won nine games while Seahawks have won four. They have only faced each other once in playoffs and Seahawks were able to win that game. Cowboys and Seahawks
are going to play only one game against each other in the 2012 season.
Last meeting
Cowboys and Seahawks faced each other in Week 9 game of the 2011 season.
The defence of both teams staged sturdy performances in the first half of the game as no major scoring opportunity was created.
Cowboys were the first ones to take the lead. They scored a field goal in the first quarter to get the first scoring move of the game. Seahawks managed to level the score with few seconds left in the quarter.
As both teams entered the second quarter with score tied, the defence kept on dominating the game again. Cowboys once again managed a field goal to take the lead, but their lead was again neutralised by the Seahawks who also got a field goal at the end of
the quarter.
The first half ended with both teams tied 6-6, but Cowboys finally managed to find their rhythm back and their offence started dominating the game.
In the third quarter, Cowboys defence did well to prevent Seahawks from scoring any point while Romo finally managed a touchdown pass to grab the lead again.
In the final quarter, Cowboys managed another touchdown, which was followed by a field goal. Seahawks responded by scoring a touchdown later, but they could not provide more scoring moves.
The final score, 23-13, settled in favour of the Cowboys.
