2012 Season Preview: Philadelphia Eagles face Baltimore Ravens in Week 2 Arizona Cardinals in Week 3
After playing their first game of the season away from home, the Eagles will return home to host Baltimore Ravens in Week 2 while in Week 3 they will once again travel and face Arizona Cardinals.
Week 2: Baltimore Ravens
The best team of the American Football Conference (AFC) North, Baltimore Ravens, performed brilliantly last season and lost to the New England Patriots in the AFC championship game.
Ravens have a quality defence that is well capable of containing Eagles. Although Eagles are pretty good at scoring points, it is not an easy task for any team in the National Football League (NFL) to score points against the Ravens’ sturdy defence.
This encounter is expected to be a true test of both the teams, who are aiming to get a shot at the Super Bowl this season.
Keeping their last season’s performance, Ravens are far better than Eagles, but the latter had a pretty good offseason this year and they are surely capable of giving tough time to Ravens.
Head-to-Head
Eagles and Ravens have only played three games against each other. Both teams have won one game each while one game ended in a tie.
Week 3: Arizona Cardinals
Eagles seem to have a pretty good chance of winning against the Cardinals who are still unsure about their starting quarterback of the season.
Last season, Kevin Kolb and John Skelton got to get the starting role. Kolb was initially the starter, but his injury allowed Skelton to show his worth. The management was satisfied with the performance of both quarterbacks and now the coach has said that
he will decide the starter before preseason games.
Even if Cardinals manage to combine well on offence, it is not going to be easy for them to penetrate Eagles’ defence without facing any problems.
The Cards also have to cover loopholes of their defence or else Eagles are capable of exploiting them.
Cardinals will certainly enter the season confident and motivated as they were able to beat the Eagles in the 2011 season with the score of 21-17. Skelton was their quarterback in that game.
Head-to-Head
Eagles and Cardinals have faced each other 116 times. Eagles have 55 victories to their name while Cardinals have won 56 games. Five games were tied. They have faced each other three times in the playoffs and going to play only one game in the 2012 season.
