2012 Season Preview: Philadelphia Eagles face Cleveland Browns in Week 1
Reaching playoffs is not something unusual for the Philadelphia Eagles, but doing something memorable in the postseason is something they have not done yet.
A number of playoff appearances and two Super Bowl games were not enough to bring the National Football League (NFL) title in Philadelphia and with fresh hopes of getting a shot at the prestigious title, the seemingly threatening Eagles are entering the
2012 season as a Super Bowl contender, once again.
Eagles were considered a deadly unit before the start of the 2011 season as well. They had made quite a few changes on their roster by adding a number of star players but the hype did not transform into effective on-field performance.
The Eagles did not start the season well. Although they won the first game of the regular season, they lost the next four, paving way for the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys to move up in the National Football Conference (NFC) East.
Eagles did a good job to recover towards the end of the season and they finished it with eight victories and eight defeats, just like the Cowboys. Both were unable to qualify for the playoffs, though.
The road is once again tough in front of the Eagles, but they are yet again looking tougher. In this space, we will preview the opponents Eagles are going to face in the 2012 regular season.
Week 1: Cleveland Browns
Browns finished at the bottom of the American Football Conference (AFC) North in the last season after winning just four out of 16 games.
This time around, they are looking a bit better but it has not yet been decided who will be their starting quarterback. Colt McCoy is back from concussion while Browns have also drafted a quarterback, Brandon Weeden, this year.
As for Eagles, their defence is much better, especially after the addition of linebacker DeMeco Ryans. Their offence, led by quarterback Michael Vick, is also looking a threatening unit as the players have finally began to combine well and play as a unit.
Head-to-Head
Browns and Eagles have played 47 games against each other. Eagles have won 15 while Browns have 31 victories to their name. One game was tied. They are going to play only one game in the 2012 season against each other.
