2012 Six-Red World Championship: Ricky Walden on way to win another title after 2012 Wuxi Classic
England’s Ricky Walden displayed amazing performance at the Wuxi Sports Center arena in Wuxi, China and made his way successfully into the final encounter of the 2012 Wuxi Classic snooker tournament. He faced the winner of the 2011 Australian Goldfields
Open snooker event, Stuart Bingham and defeated him by the score line of 10-4.
After winning the 2012 Wuxi Classic, Walden said, “I'm over the moon to win the event. It was a tough game today, I won a few good early frames on the black to open up a lead and I played pretty solid from then. Stuart missed a couple of balls and I took
advantage of the few mistakes that he made.”
He added, “I was just trying to hang in there and just keep doing what I was doing, playing solid stuff, keeping it tight, as tight as I can and hoping my chance would come and I took it out in the end. I'm very, very pleased.”
Winning the 2012 Wuxi Classic gave a new boost to Walden’s confidence and he was all set to take on any challenger in the upcoming snooker events in the new season. The Wuxi title was his second major ranking title after the 2008 Shanghai Masters which has
dragged him into the Top 10 potters of the World Snooker Rankings. Walden is now looking forward to cash this opportunity and grab as many titles as he can in this season.
Right now, the Englishman is playing in the 2012 Six-Red Snooker World Championship and is playing brilliantly to prove his class and talent. So far, with an outstanding performance, Walden has made his way into the Last-16 round of the tournament after
beating the former six-time World Snooker Championship runner-up, Whirlwind Jimmy White by the score line of 6-3 in the Last-32 round.
His next opponent in the Last-16 round will be compatriot Joe Perry. Walden has played against Perry a couple of times before and knows his strong points. The clash is definitely going to be epic because the 2012 Wuxi Classic winner is in good shape and
can trouble Perry anytime.
