2012 Summer Bash Tournament: James Huang, Cherry Lai steal limelight in Men’s Doubles event
Men’s Doubles experts James Huang and Cherry Lai played flawless badminton against Min Chai-Robert Kuah in title match of Summer Bash Tournament and clinched the crown on June 24, 2012.
This final tussle of the event prolonged to 35 minutes before ending with concluding figures of 10-21, 21-12 and 21-12.
The triumphant duo came back from a horrendous start and reserved their spot at top of victory stand by grabbing last two segments of the show.
Meanwhile, the opposing team squandered an early advantage and failed to rise in crucial part of the game.
In first set of match, the partnership of Min Chai and Robert Kuah was at its best as they completely outclassed their challengers in all areas of the game.
They laid foundation of their supremacy straight away in the beginning when they pocketed four valuable points without any interruption.
Later, they capitalised this initial lead and put a formidable total of 11-3 before announcement of one-minute interval.
After the break, their competitors picked up some pace and tried to narrow the gap but Min and Robert left them far behind by prevailing in five continuous rallies.
The twosome of James Huang and Cherry Lai could not come out of this deficit and surrendered after reading decisive figure of 10-21.
However, they did not remain at lower end permanently and bounced back in very next game. This time they did not repeat previous mistakes and showed elevated craft on the court.
Though, they were bit sluggish in the beginning but a couple of power packed rallies helped them to control the overall pace of the game.
First half of the set was concluded with James and Cherry standing at score position of 11-7 but later part completely belonged to them as they bagged ten out of last fifteen points to place a winning margin of 21-12.
The decider was replay of previous one as Min-Robert kept on making mistakes which ultimately cost them the final match.
They hardly put any resistance throughout third set and crashed out in a disgraceful manner. Men’s Doubles team James Huang-Cherry Lai stole the show with a huge difference of nine points in 21-12 score.
