2012 Syed Modi International India GPG: Rais Uddin move into second round of qualifying round
Men’s Singles campaigner Md Rais Uddin cleared first hurdle in Shaheed Dr. K.L. Garg - Syed Modi International India GPG and powered his way to second stage of qualifying round on December 18, 2012.
The lower ranked Bangladeshi shuttler played with great precision in the local badminton arena of Lucknow, India and outshined the native shuttler Harinder Malik.
This hard fought tussle lasted for three exhausting sets before ending with concluding figures of 21-15, 19-21 and 21-15.
Rais locked the honour by prevailing in the opening and ending segments of the showdown whereas the Indian player could live its moment of glory only in the middle of battle.
The first set of match was full of drama as at first Harinder ruled the court in eight consecutive rallies and it was felt that he will cruise to victory without any major trouble.
However, Rais came in the way and put his expedition to halt with a staggering knock. He turned the tables by clinching eleven points in a row and finished first half of the set with 11-8 margin.
After the mid-game break, the Indian shuttler stormed back with a strong reply and tipped the scale again in his favour.
This time Harinder changed his tactics and confounded the opposing shuttler with a fine blend of power packed strokes and deceiving drop net shots.
He was in commanding position with 15-11 score when Rais unleashed a flurry of productive strokes and swept the table with a significant lead.
The Bangladeshi player bagged ending eleven points without any interruption and placed an overwhelming total of 21-15.
Next set was filled with great sensation as both contenders challenged each other in all departments of game.
Rais took off in perfect manner and established a notable advantage with 9-3 margin but then the Indian shuttler showed a transformed character and claimed this vital match point with 21-19.
Third set became survival of the fittest war for them as both contestants were trying to avoid a woeful exit from this GP Gold event.
They remained equal until 9-9 but then Rais displayed an elevated craft and sealed his victory with 21-15.
Now he is scheduled to meet Vijetha N. V. S. and win will take him into main round of Shaheed Dr. K.L. Garg - Syed Modi International India GPG.
