2012 Syed Modi International: Parupalli Kashyap beats Parinyawat Thongnuam in pre quarter-finals
Men’s Singles expert Parupalli Kashyap remained invincible in third round of Syed Modi International India GPG and marched into the quarter-finals on Thursday, December 20, 2012.
He trounced Parinyawat Thongnuam of Thailand in a brief encounter which was staged at the local badminton complex of Lucknow, India.
Kashyap, who is second seeded shuttler of this GP Gold event, relished full benefits of his superiority and kept his challenger at the lower end in both segments of the showdown.
On the other hand, the Thai campaigner failed to continue his successful run and crashed out in a disgraceful manner.
The first set of match started with couple of gruelling rallies as both shuttlers were fully charged to outshine the opponent.
However, the prime Indian player did not take much time to establish an unassailable lead. He bagged few back-to-back points and made a notable difference with a mountainous figure of 8.
This initial advantage helped him in next couple of rallies and he managed to finish first half of the set with a respectable score position of 11-7.
After the mid-game break, Kashyap gathered some pace and left his competitor far behind on the points table.
He added four consecutive points in his total immediately after the interval and then strengthened his grip in third quarter of the set.
The Thai shuttler looked completely dazzled as he could not come out of his rival’s influence and surrendered after reading 16-21 score on the board.
Next game was just a replay of first one as both contenders remained toe-to-toe until the half time but then Kashyap struck hard and tipped the scale in his favour.
Initially, the Indian campaigner played cautiously but he changed his tactics after the establishing rallies and confounded the opposing shuttler with a staggering knock.
He started the beating after 11-11 and got into commanding position with 18-12 margin. Though, he lost focus for a short span of time but still the concluding figure was in his favour.
Kashyap registered an impressive result of 21-17 and setup his clash with Goh Soon Huat of Malaysia in quarter-final round of Syed Modi International India GPG.
