2012 Victor Slovak Open: Jakub Bitman makes way into quarter-finals of Men’s Singles event
Czech Republic’s Jakub Bitman continued with his top form and earned the right to be in the quarter-finals after beating Yoann Turlan during the second round of the Victor Slovak Open on September 7, 2012.
This Men’s Singles tie remained in full swing for 55 minutes and both contenders put all they had to read final result of 21-17, 17-21 and 21-17.
Though, the victorious shuttler put a fluctuated performance he still managed to tip the scale in his favour by grabbing the opening and ending match points.
On the other hand, the French campaigner failed to revive his lost rhythm and could prove his mettle only in the middle of the battle.
The opening game started with both shuttlers pushing each other in all areas of the court to gain an early advantage.
They remained close on points table in preliminary stage but then Jakub made up the difference by ruling the court in a couple of uninterrupted rallies.
He carried this flow until mid-game break and cornered his rival by placing an indomitable total of 11.
Later part of the game completely belonged to him as Yoann had no reply to his masterly crafted strokes which landed in the right areas.
Jakub kept the opposing shuttler at the lower end until the last shot was played and finished first set with a respectable lead in the decisive figure of 21-17.
However, the story was entirely different in next game as this time it was Yoann’s turn to prove his worth.
Though, he looked a bit confused in the beginning but a couple of productive rallies boosted his confidence and he bounced back with an impressive knock.
The French campaigner started making progress by gathering few valuable points just before the interval.
He maintained this momentum after the interval and left his competitor far behind with an overwhelming margin of 21-17.
Third set became crucial after such an emphatic end and both players made every effort to pocket the final match point.
They snapped at each other’s heels all the way to game point situation but the Czech player managed to pile up a favourable total of 21-17.
Now Jakub is scheduled to meet compatriot shuttler Ondrej Kopriva in the round of eight of this tournament.
