The second Test of the three-match Frank http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, staged at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad, ended in a draw.
This time Australian skipper Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/N-Deonarine-c2051 played cautious half century knock, adding 94 and 55 runs respectively to the scorecard, but lacked the support from the rest of the line-up, as the whole side was bowled out for just 257. Australian declared their second innings on 160 for 8, setting a 215-run target for the home side to win, but the Windies were 53 for 2 when the umpires called the day for the last time.
Going into the third and final Test at the Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica, Michael Clarke and men needed only to draw the game to clinch the series. But the tourists won the match by 75 runs to seal the series 2-0.
After opting to bat first, the mighty Aussies scored 328 all out in their first innings, courtesy a valiant 106 from wicketkeeper batsman Mathew Wade, plying only his third Test match. Wade’s effort was well complemented by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kieran-Omar-Akeem-Powell-c71441 (40), as the whole side was rolled over for just 218.
Australia, in their second innings, scored 259 all out to set a 370 runs target for the Windies to win. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382 (61) could not salvage a draw for the Windies, as Michael Clarke led Australian attack bundled the hosts out for 294, to win the match by 75 runs and clinch the series 2-0.
Australia’s wicketkeeper batsman Mathew Wade was adjudged as the Man of the Match, while West Indies’ experienced batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Chanderpaul-c2390 walked away with the Player of the Tournament accolade, for performing consistently throughout the lost series.
Aussie skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 had a special word of praise for his gloveman, Mathew Wade, who was touring the Caribbean for the first time, besides playing in his maiden Test series.
"I think if he plays the way he's been playing there's no doubt about it [he could play as a batsman]," Clarke said. "And his numbers say that for Victoria. He's a wonderful wicketkeeper but I think that his batting's got a lot of potential too. He plays spin as good as anyone.
"I think, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Wade-c1933, if he plays like that, certainly will continue to put pressure on not only the wicketkeeper's spot but a batsman's position too. That's something the selectors will have to worry about in time," he added further.
