2012 opponent preview Week 12 & 14: Houston Texans face Detroit Lions and New England Patriots
The 2012 opponent series continues as we are looking into the games that will be played by Houston Texans in the upcoming regular season.
In this edition of the opponent preview, we will look into games that will be played in week 12 and 14.
Week 12: Detroit Lions
Despite not having an outstanding defence, Detroit Lions have some credentials to succeed in the regular season and the playoffs in the 2012 season.
This is because they have an offence that can lead them to victories. They are in the league where a team can reach milestones even with a lacklustre defence. Teams like Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots are best examples of that.
However, the major issue with the Lions is lack of discipline. Many off-field problems continue to bother them and this could affect the team badly.
Lions’ offence will also be counting on quarterback Matthew Stafford and his receiver Calvin Johnson. The pair performed exceptionally well last season and must combine well again if they want to see the team winning consistently.
Head-to-Head
Texans and Lions have played two games against each other. Both teams have won one game each.
Week 14: New England Patriots
New England Patriots will look to strengthen their defence as they go into the season hoping to get the job done this time.
They have added plenty of young talent on the roster in order to deal with their defensive woes, but these rookies will have to perform right away if Patriots want to have some kind of improvement.
All will depend on quarterback Tom Brady as far as offensive play is concerned. They have added Brandon Lloyd to strengthen Brady’s receiving corp.
The return of Robert Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez will certainly bolster the Patriots’ prospects of getting the title this season.
Wes Welker will also be certainly looking to bolster his performance to make Patriots' offence the best in the league.
Head-to-Head
Texans and Patriots have played just three games against each other. Texans have won only one game while Patriots have won twice.
