2012 opponent preview Week 15 & 16: Houston Texans face Indianapolis Colts and Minnesota Vikings
This is the last episode of our opponent preview series of Houston Texans. In this edition, we will look into games that will be played in Week 15 and 16 of the regular season.
In Week 15 Texans will host Indianapolis Colts and then they will face Minnesota Vikings in Week 16.
Week 15: Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis Colts had a beleaguered 2011 season. They finished 2-14 which was the worst in the league.
The absence of their elite quarterback Peyton Manning was the main reason behind Colts’ lacklustre performance.
After the departure of Manning from the team this offseason, Colts went out for a complete restructuring of their coaching as well as administrative staff.
The new Head Coach Chuck Pagano had the number one pick in this year’s draft and he used it magnificently by adding one of the skilful talents to come in recent years, quarterback Andrew Luck.
Apart from that, they have added depth to the squad by selecting quite a lot of draftees. The roster has also seen some makeover with some veterans of Manning’s time being replaced with young guns.
Luck does not have the support of a very talented offence. Therefore it will be interesting to see how productive he will be in his rookie season. Colts and Texans will play two games against each other this season.
Head-to-Head
Texans and Colts have played 20 games against each other. Texans have won just three games while Colts are up with 17 wins.
Week 16: Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota Vikings are again facing the possibility of having an average season as their road to rebuilding the roster continues.
They finished the last season 3-13. Their output decreased massively as their running back Adrian Peterson got injured.
Their quarterback Christian Ponder will start his second season in the league after having a terrible rookie season. He has shown better output in training camp and the Vikings will be looking for a breakout performance from him this season.
Yet the main problem for Vikings seems to be the defence. They have many old players who are not capable of being very athletic.
On the other hand, they have young players who have not quite reached the stage of taking the responsibility of the defensive team.
Head-to-Head
Texans and Vikings have played against each other just twice in regular season with Vikings winning both of them.
