Do not be scared.  I assure you that the world will not end on 2012 December 21 because of pole shift but it will end one day.  Nostradamus’ prediction of when the earth will end is far into the future, past about 3700.  He still has many prophecies that are not fulfilled yet.  Remember that if there is a beginning, there is an end.  

The Mayan’s Mesoamerican Long Count calendar forms the basis for a New Age belief, first forecast by Jose Arguelles, that a cataclysm will take place on or about 2012 December 21 (Wikipedia).  It will be the end of a Mayan calendar cycle to start a new cycle.

In the book of Revelation, it tells us about a period of a thousand years of peace. Has this occurred already since the time of Jesus? Not yet. That will still come. Those that give predictions of the world’s end, such as 2012 and numerous times during the past, are pseudo-preachers. Have they talked to God directly? If so, give proofs.

But there is something that is certain—and that is our physical death. This is what we should prepare for. It may come when least expected. We do not know the day and the hour. It will come like a thief in the night. So we just have to be prepared all the time. Search for the true God and when we find Him, follow His commandments and remain in Him until our last dying breath.

This is all that we have to do. It is faith in the true God that we can take with us when we depart from this world. If we denied Him, He will deny us also before the Father in Heaven and send us to h**l. This is very scary – to live in h**l forever.  If we knew Him and loved Him and followed His commandments, then He may reward us to live with Him eternally in His kingdom in Heaven. This is the survival kit that we should have.

What is also certain to happen very soon (in about 2012 or earlier) is World War III and this is a nuclear war.  This calamitous war will start from the Philippines, at Spratly Islands in particular.  The Spratly Islands lie on the South China Sea mostly near the coast of the Philippines.  The Holy Spirit told us that the troubles in the Philippines is like the wick of a lamp.  Once the wick is lit, it will be on and aglow.  He told us about this prophecy more than a decade ago.  Please read what is happening in the Philippines now.  Spratly Islands which is being claimed wholly or partly by six countries including China is in the news and considered a tinderbox, a flash point.  It is very rich in oil and gas resources, more than the reserve of Kuwait.  The high price of oil may trigger the grabbing of these islands and start the war.

No, not real (or something).

And there are 2 ways to interpret "pole shift".

Geomagnetic pole reversal:

- this is a change in the orientation of Earth's magnetic field so that magnetic north and south "switch" places

- these events (which are believed to last a few hundred to a few thousand years) involve an extended decline in field strength over years - the Earth's current field is declining at a rate that would cause it to collapse around 3000 - 4000 AD

Axial Pole Shift:

- the hypothesis (meaning there is no proof) that the axis of rotation of Earth has not always been at its present-day location (that its physical poles had been or will be shifted), like throwing a car driving forward suddenly into reverse)

- no evidence that this could occur without some massive object in space near to the Earth (there is nothing anywhere near large enough or close enough to do this)

- true polar wander has occurred at various times in the past, but at rates of 1 degree per million years (hardly Earth-shattering)

You would be surprised at the amount of truth and science you can find if you just do a bit of research.

Doom-sayers throw terms like "pole shift" or "galactic alignment" around as though they were true scientific phenomenon - maybe they just want to scare the uneducated or the gullible.

Time for people to stop being uneducated or gullible.

No, it's not real.  None of that History Channel, Mayan calendar, pole-shifting, galaxy aligning bunk is real.

The earth's magnetic poles migrate around very slowly.  We know the earth shifts polarity.  There is no particular time cycle for it, but we do know the reversal process takes thousands of years.

Some idiots have taken the magnetic pole shift prophecy and turned it into an axial pole shift.  They just don't even know the difference.  That NEVER happens.  The earth's axis rotates around like a spinning top, on a 26,000 year cycle.  The polar tilt doesn't change, though, just its orientation to the stars.  It's what causes the precession of the equinoxes.

So nothing having to do with the poles will happen in 2012, except the increased melting due to global warming.

Magnetic pole reversals have happened over and over again throughout Earth's history. The geological record has proven that each reversal takes thousands of years from start to finish. No past magnetic reversal has completed as quickly as the bimbos spouting all this Doomsday 2012 b.s want you to believe.
