2012 season: Paula Creamer winless yet still strong and hopeful
American Paula Creamer can look back at her past performances to convince herself that she is still one of the best, but the star golfer will need more than just a victory next season to get
back to her old form.
For some, Creamer should have been criticised for lacklustre play in the 2012 season, as she failed to end her months-long victory drought.
Things are not as grim as they may seem, but the golf crazy Americans believe that she will have to push herself to the limits to assert her presence in the lineup.
No matter how hard it has been for Creamer to grab a title in the season, she still struck fear into rivals with her unmatched putting skills on the course.
Despite not being able to win any event in the 2012 LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) season, Creamer showed a good performance in several tournaments—something that reflects she
is keen to put herself on winning path.
For instance, the Kingsmill Championship 2012 saw the American star in best shape as she finished runner-up.
Creamer got into a nail-biting battle against South Korean Jiyai Shin in the final round and both the contenders posted an overall 268 each to go into playoff.
It was the scene of hype and regret, but Creamer knew that her nerves were too strong to carry her through to the top. She held her ground till the 7th extra hole and her putting
was comparable to that of Shin.
However, one lousy stroke on the greens of 8th extra hole cost her the prestigious title.
Still, the LPGA phenom did not regret losing the match to Shin, as she said her confidence remained intact till the final moment.
“I think I really wanted to play another one and Jiyai was kind of ‑‑ I mean it's hard when it's just us two and trying to make a decision.  I respect what she wants and she respects what
I want.  It's difficult,” Creamer had said at the end of the tournament.
“I teed it up and I was like oh, my goodness, my driver, my white ‑‑ my driver was brighter than the golf ball sitting down there and I'm thinking this probably isn't a good idea.  I looked
at Jiyai and Jiyai said no”.
