My valve covers on my sb350 have two small humps on the back side of them. Is that a way to tell if they are 202 heads

  1. Just because the valve covers are for a 202 head or camel back head doesn,t mean they are...You gotta pull the valve cover off and run the casting numbers...If they are they are good heads...They are more valuable to collectors than to performance now a days...Todays heads are lighter stronger and more economic...Me i,d sell them and buy a set of performance heads from summitt.

  2. the best way to tell is to pull the valve cover and check the casting number you can get the numbers off the internet

  3. Do you mean 2:02" valves? Because though the "double hump" or "camel hump" heads from the '60's were good, not all of them came with the larger valves. Some came with 1:90" valves.

The last 3 numbers of the serial number under the valve cover would be 461 or 462. But still, you would have to do some research to find out what size valves they had or take a head off and measure the valve which I'm sure is out of the question.

edit: I'll give you my example. I did this research like 18 years ago when I got the heads done and bolted on so bear with me.The best any person or book can tell me is that my casting number '461' heads are off of a '61 or '62 Vette. The single four barrel 'Vettes had the smaller valves and the dual 4 barrel 'Vettes had the larger 2:02" intake valves.

Both had the same '461' at the end of the casting number. Mine were the small valve ones but I spent $750 just at the machine shop like 13 years ago to have the bigger valves put in.

The other good part about these heads is there only 64cc which is good for compression.

I think there's a 3rd numbered head that was just as good back then but can't remember.

Oh yea, do they have any accessory bolt holes on each end?
