  1. It's definitely good enough...but it of course depends on your peers. The only thing I'm not sure about is your SAT I score. I don't know that much about california schools, but it's a bit low for Penn but it's in the range for NYU. Just write an excellent essay and hope for the best!

  2. Wow, that's pretty impressive. I would say they'd be pretty darn stupid if they didn't. but recently getting into a school seems like it's being decided from lottery tickets. Just get started on your personal statements early (during the summer before senior year, the personal statements are available online you just need you look for them - both uc's and privates') and don't hesitate to write about your toughest experiences and how it has changed you and will prepare you for college. It doesn't matter how many activities that you do, it matters how dedicated you are to that one or few activities. If you get rejected, always consider appealing to the college because some people did that and they got in. Appealing to a college means you're asking for a second chance for them to take a look at your application, but you have to provide them with new information. (;

  3. I'm a UPenn rising senior this year, and I think you're probably better qualified than I am. The thing is, when you're qualified for the top universities in the country (and I think you are), it's more or less luck which one you get into and which rejects you or waitlists you. So, I'd advise applying to all of the ones you mentioned in your questions (as well as one or two "safeties"), because I think doing so would give you a better chance of getting into one of the top universities. Good luck!

  4. Let me start off by saying that I got accepeted at every school you listed except NYU...that's right, a couple top 10 schools accepted me, but NYU didn't. In fact, Princeton and NYU were the only school to reject me.

    You're def. a lock for UCLA, Berkeley, and NYU, and I think that UPenn shouldn't be too much trouble. However, I think it's a toss up for Stanford. Any schools ranked 10 - whatever will def. accept you, but it's the top 5 (Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Stanford) that would reject you...at the very list, I think you should get waitlisted at Stanford.

    BUT...I think it's a good chance that you get accepted at ever school you apply to.

    Me

    3 Varsity Sports (baseball, basketball, football)

    Founding President of 2 clubs, Secretary of 3 clubs, Captain of the Academic Decathlon team, did over 700 hours of community service, Newspaper, Model UN, held a job for over 2 years

    2040 SAT, 4.0 weighted GPA, and I got mostly 5s on my AP exams

    My weakness was obviously my GPA...but that should be no burden for you...and I think you should do well.
